Description
The Regional Safety Coordinator is responsible for partnering with the transportation and warehouse operations team in our logistic network to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable federal, state and local regulations. This individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.
The Regional Safety Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and data analysis. The Regional Safety Coordinator must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train Operations Leaders in company safety policies and assist the regional teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site.
The Regional Safety Coordinator will be required to possess excellent safety program and relevant safety knowledge and demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations.
MUST live local to a major airport and an NTW location.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide support and alignment to the Company’s Corporate Safety Program, by partnering with business unit leaders to prevent workplace injuries and reduce health risks.
- Supports the operational implementation of Safety strategies and initiatives in a way that builds a Company-wide safety and compliance culture.
- Provides guidance to business units for processes and activities including compliance with applicable laws and regulations and the investigation of accidents and any violations of policies and procedures.
- Provides analysis of trends/data and provide recommendations to leadership for follow-up and action.
- Partnering with regional and division leaders, maintain an effective system for identifying, reporting, investigating, tracking, trending and acting on violations of Health & Safety laws, policies or standards of conduct, to minimize the risk of unlawful or improper conduct and to protect the Company’s reputation.
- Recommend disciplinary or corrective action in response to violations, as appropriate, to management.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Consider modifications to policies and procedures to reduce the likelihood that similar violations will occur and make changes as appropriate.
- Support Health & Safety compliance audits by ensuring Company requirements are implemented as intended; report results to appropriate leaders.
- Assess Regional Safety risks and develop and implement appropriate risk mitigation plans.
- Conduct worksite audits to identify potential risks and ensure regulatory compliance
- Identify and monitor developments and trends in legislation and regulation related to industry DOT, OSHA & EPA evaluate the impact of changes and partner with regional business leaders to make appropriate changes to policies, standards, processes and practices.
- Ensure continual improvement to the Health & Safety program.
Continued Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness to all work-related injuries and illnesses, including root cause analysis and follow up training as needed.
- Keeps abreast and leverages technology effectively.
- Represent the Safety function to trade associations and government agencies.
- Attend relevant industry conferences and professional meetings to maintain professional competencies and benchmark Company performance versus others; identify innovations and best practices and approaches and develop them to fit the Company.
- Serve as Health & Safety subject matter expert and coach others throughout the Company

Added Responsibilities
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, or related field preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in the field of Health and Safety preferred, in a multi-location transportation and warehouse environment, or any combination of education and experience.
- Thorough regulatory knowledge including OSHA, DOT and other regulatory standards applicable to logistics operations and tire distribution.
- Ability to implement lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
- Able to travel to other work locations and work overtime as needed.
- Current and valid driver’s license and reliable method of transportation.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality and trust.
- Bilingual in Spanish /English is a plus
