Description

The Vice President of Demand and Inventory Planning provides oversight and strategic direction of the operations of all forecasting, supply, inventory control, and S&OP functions within TBC North America.  This position plays a key role in supporting the development and management of the company’s demand and supply planning functions that collectively forecast and procure over $4B in tire and non-tire inventory per year.  In addition, this role is responsible for leading both the S&OP and S&OP business functions within the company that collectively orchestrate and manage the ordering, receipt, and deployment of inventory throughout the United States. Lastly, this function is responsible for the management, control, and reporting of all tire inventory within the company which averages over 8M discrete tire units across the U.S at any point in time.   The VP of Planning will work closely with both matrix supply chain functions (Purchasing, Operations, Transportation) as well as the TBC BU Sales and Customer Service teams to ensure high levels of inventory fulfillment in support of the organizations sales and inventory objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement core planning strategies that drive forecast accuracy, lower bias, reduce inventory and drive service.  
  • Lead the Forecasting function within the United States to ensure appropriate levels of inventory to service customer requirements throughout 107 NTW Distribution Centers and 4 Regional Mixing Centers.  Forecast Accuracy, Forecast Bias, Inventory Units and $, and ATS % in stock will be the primary metrics of this function.
  • Lead the Supply Planning, Deployment, and Inventory Control functions to deliver established Service and Inventory Levels across the network with the lowest possible inventory levels. 
  • Lead and evolve mature and integrated S&OP and S&OE process across each BU within TBC.  

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the improvement and alignment of planning practices across locations, regardless of size, entity, or channel.
  • Facilitate the implementation, sustainment, and use of enabling technology (SAP WM, BY, Power BI).
  • Support the improvement of existing and new technology, as appropriate, including linkages to other core systems throughout the business.
  • Prepare and oversee the administration of the inventory plan and budget.

Continued Responsibilities

  • Develop long and short-term strategy for improving key performance metrics and financial plans/budget, while managing expense control.(Forecast Accuracy, ATS%, Inventory $, Transportation $)
  • Partner with Human Resources to design, implement and oversee a talent model for the planning team
  • Partners with other key functional areas and leaders to ensure the uninterrupted operation of mission critical distribution, systems, and services performance.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10-15 years senior planning/supply chain management experience in retail, wholesale and/or eCommerce.
  • Ability to oversee multiple key initiatives in parallel and/or leading a business transformation project.
  • Proven leadership skills including leading the team with a clear vision and strategy, results-orientation, change catalyst and developing people.
  • Outstanding communication skills necessary; ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make effective decisions based on data available while setting a clear path forward in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience with APS systems (Advanced Planning Systems), preferably Blue/Yonder or SAP. 
  • Previous accountability for multiple distribution facilities.
  • Flexible team player, willing to set example for others to follow.
  • Experience with high transaction direct-to-consumer fulfillment operations a plus.
  • Ability to manage a business to stay ahead of the curve by finding new ways to satisfy internal and external customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Distribution, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish /English is a plus
