Description

This position is responsible for providing preparation support for all federal, foreign, state and local income tax returns for the companies owned by TBC Corporation. Responsibilities also include assisting with federal, state and local income tax audits, guiding and working with other tax staff, working with internal and external partners, and reconciling tax accounts.  Must understand and record all financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

 

The Senior Tax Associate is responsible for producing various analysis and schedules in conjunction with the various tax filings, as well as identifying and implementing controls on audit findings.  The individual will also be required to handle special projects throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with outsourced tax filing/preparation partners on state and local income tax filings
  • Prepare support for Federal, Foreign, State and Local Filings (apportionment information and trial balance analysis)
  • Provide calculations and data for specific credits and deductions
  • File auxiliary returns (Kansas City Tif, 990N, Excise)
  • Assist other corporate personnel with tax-related matters
  • Analyze data for all tax filings, and put data into usable format for both internal and external uses
  • Ensure business and tax compliance in all states that we operate by reviewing new tax laws
  • Review tax audit findings to mitigate fines and penalties and to minimize tax burden
  • Help design and/or improve controls and current tax processes
  • Prepare tax journal entries for posting in the general ledger
  • Respond to Tax Authorities' tax notices and inquiries 
  • Reconcile tax accounts in accord with company's General Accounting policies
  • Participate in special projects relating to automation of tax data
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information 
  • Conduct other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar education, Masters in Tax and/or CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of Corporate Income tax experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent PC skills, including Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self-motivated and able to work with deadlines
  • Experience with SAP, Corptax, Onesource, IBM Analytics a plus
