General Accounting Manager

Description

The General Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading the Accounting Team in the month end close and balance sheet reconciliation processes.  This individual will be expected to organize workflows to be efficient and timely.  They will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the financial statements.  The successful leader will develop and mentor the General Accounting staff, interact with senior levels of management and must be able to communicate complex topics throughout all levels of the organization.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the application of GAAP in the performance of daily accounting functions
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls
  • Identifies gaps and designs/implements controls to mitigate risk
  • Leads, trains, mentors general accounting team in daily and monthly activities
  • Reviews account reconciliations
  • Reviews manual/one-time journal entries
  • Serve as contact for Franchise, Retail and Wholesale field for  accounting issues
  • Develop key metrics for team performance and measure performance against them
  • Establish a continuous improvement plan for self and team  
  • Mentor staff under direct and indirect reporting relationships
  • Communicate issues, findings and suggestions to team and management
  • Perform job with integrity and transparency
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting,.  CPA and/or Master’s Degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of experience in  accounting or related field demonstrating progressive performance
  • Large ERP systems experience preferably SAP.  Experience with Blackline desired.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and rely on experience and judgment to perform tasks to accomplish goals
  • Requires understanding  of  commonly used accounting and financial concepts and procedures
  • Strong commitment to leadership and integrity required
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with deadlines
