The Director Accounting & Assistant Controller is a senior leadership position within the TBC Accounting/Finance Organization.  This position will be responsible for leading the efforts to ensure the integrity of TBC’s financial statements through preparation, consolidation and in compliance with GAAP and IFRS.  Responsibilities include identifying and leading process improvement initiatives and advocating best practices throughout the General Accounting group and Shared Services.  The successful leader will be a champion for automation, performance metrics, transparency and teamwork.  This position will interact with executive leadership enterprise-wide and lead cross-functional teams.  The ability to communicate complex issues to all levels of the organization is critical.  A strong grasp of systems, accounting processes, and transactional detail as well as the ability to maintain a high-level contextual view will be paramount.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads Accounting and Finance Team with a heightened since of urgency, focusing on process improvement, transparency, integrity, and efficiency.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership, using strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and statutory reporting with ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply technical accounting guidance
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet and P&L through a robust account reconciliation process in compliance with Company policy
  • Executes external and internal audits, delivering clean results and remediation plans where necessary
  • Develops associates with a focus on increasing their hard and soft skillsets to position them for taking on larger roles within TBC
  • Focus team skill sets, resources, and processes to develop independent ideas and points of view framed around the bigger picture of TBC
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and IFRS policies and procedures, leading to audit-ready financials and process controls with financial and reporting teams
  • Research and resolve day-to-day financial reporting and accounting issues, assist with the resolution of significant, complex, and/or unusual transactions to ensure proper application of US GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements and prepare position papers as needed
  • Implement cross functional teams to identify and remediate areas of weakness in internal controls or financials
  • Lead teams in day +2 month end close, balance sheet reviews, internal and external reporting
  • Drive account reconciliation reviews to ensure accuracy, validity (appropriate support, roll forwards vs reconciliations, timeliness of clearing entries) and policy compliance
  • Aggressively pursue process improvements through automation, documentation, training and identification/implementation of best practices
  • Execute timely and accurately on external audit deliverables with the target of completing a clean annual financial audit
  • Work with extended Finance Team to deliver on the mission/vision/values that is supported with good process and rigor and is understood across TBC


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and CPA required.  Master’s Degree a plus.
  • At least 10 years of progressive professional experience including, management and mentoring of professional accounting staff
  • Proven track record of process and/or profitability improvement
  • High performer with the ability to solve complex problems in a fast paced environment
  • Development and execution of internal controls
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Access, Word, Viseo, etc.)
  • Experience with large ERP systems (SAP, JDE, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and re-prioritize issues easily whole working with minimal supervision
  • Must be fluent in English
