Description
The Director, Supply Planning and Execution is responsible for leading the end-to-end supply planning function to ensure optimal inventory availability, service levels, and working capital performance across the enterprise. This role oversees a team responsible for purchase order management, inventory deployment, and inventory balancing activities throughout the distribution network. The Director will establish and execute supply planning strategies that align demand forecasts with supplier capabilities, inventory targets, and business objectives.
This position will lead the development and execution of best-in-class supply planning processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and partner closely with Inventory Management, Demand Planning, Purchasing, Product Marketing, Transportation, Operations, and Finance teams to optimize product availability while minimizing supply chain costs. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with strong analytical capabilities and a proven track record of building high-performing teams and scalable planning processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team responsible for supply planning, purchase order creation and management, inventory deployment, and inventory balancing across the distribution network.
- Develop and maintain supply plans that align with consensus demand forecasts, inventory targets, and business objectives.
- Manage the purchase order lifecycle from creation through receipt, ensuring timely replenishment and supplier execution.
- Establish inventory deployment and transfer strategies to balance inventory across distribution centers and maximize customer service levels.
- Monitor inventory positions and initiate intercompany and warehouse transfers to address inventory imbalances, shortages, and excess inventory situations.
- Drive inventory optimization through the effective management of safety stock, reorder points, order quantities, and lead time assumptions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Partner with Demand Planning to evaluate forecast changes, identify supply risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to improve supply performance, reduce lead time variability, and increase supplier reliability.
- Lead supply review meetings and play a critical role in the company's S&OP/S&OE Business Planning process.
- Identify supply constraints and develop short- and long-term action plans to minimize business disruption.
- Develop scenario planning and "what-if" analyses to support decision-making related to inventory investments, service levels, and supply disruptions.
Continued Responsibilities
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators including inventory turns, service levels, fill rates, purchase order performance, inventory aging, and forecast attainment.
- Partner with Operations and Transportation teams to optimize inventory flow throughout the supply chain network.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing advanced planning tools, business intelligence, and automation capabilities.
- Prepare and present executive-level reporting on inventory performance, supply risks, opportunities, and action plans.
Added Responsibilities
- Support system enhancements and process improvements related to ERP, supply planning, and inventory management systems.
- Build organizational capability through effective coaching, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
- Communicate and escalate key supply chain planning risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Finance, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in supply planning, inventory management, purchasing, replenishment, or supply chain operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing planning or supply chain teams.
- Strong experience in end-to-end supply planning, inventory deployment, and replenishment processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing purchase orders, supplier performance, inventory balancing, and distribution network planning.
- Strong understanding of S&OP, S&OE, inventory optimization, and supply chain best practices.
- Experience with advanced planning systems such as Blue Yonder, SAP IBP, Oracle, o9, Kinaxis, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical capabilities with demonstrated ability to leverage data for decision-making and process improvement.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting/analytics tools.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Strong business acumen with understanding of inventory investment, working capital management, and financial tradeoff analysis.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive engagement skills.
- Proven success developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.
- Bilingual language skills in Spanish / English are a plus
