Corporate Safety Data & Systems Specialist

The Corporate Safety Data & Systems Specialist reports to the Corporate Safety Manager, and serves the entire Health and Safety Department.  This position will serve as system administrator for various systems within the Health and Safety Department and is responsible for creating and maintaining KPI reports, Scorecards, Dashboards and ad-hoc reports in stand-alone spreadsheets and software systems.

Job Responsibilites

  • Serve as System Administrator on the EMIS (Intelex).

  • Develop and maintain Safety data dashboards, scorecards and reports including weekly, monthly and on-demand KPI, trending and frequency reports within EMIS, other stand-alone systems and MS Excel

  • Respond to requests for Safety Data

  • Assist with the Driver Qualification File compliance and DQF system maintenance

  • Troubleshoot, work with vendors, create, change and delete user accounts upon request and walk users through the problem-solving process for the EMIS and other Health and Safety Department Systems and Programs

  • Serve as liaison with Risk, Human Resources, IT and other internal departments for data, workflow and cross-departmental data sharing 

  • Maintain required compliance audit-related documentation.

  • Work with IT teams, other internal departments and Health and Safety vendors to integrate data and/or investigate data-related problems in upstream and down- stream applications for the EMIS and other Health and Safety Department Systems and Programs

  • Develop metric dashboards and reports and correct data flagged on data integrity reports/dashboards

  • Serve as back up to the Corporate Safety Specialist for administrative support to the Health and Safety Department including conducting training and new associate orientation as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent experience. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered


  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in safety or risk management with a retail and/or distribution environment


  • Background in a fast- paced environment, simultaneously working on multiple projects that may involve several stakeholders


  • Demonstrates competency in: understanding and correcting data discrepancies; data querying; identifying root cause analysis; understanding and identifying data trends


  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to interpret OSHA and DOT regulations is a plus


  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral


  • Self-driven and able to manage multiple and changing priorities with little direction and supervision


  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolution

  • Advanced MS Excel skills are required


  • Report Design & Development of Dashboards


  • Ability to prioritize, manage time appropriately and multi-task under pressure
