Description
The Cloud & Data Architect is responsible for defining and executing TBC's enterprise data architecture and Unified Data Platform (UDP) strategy. This role provides leadership across data, cloud, integration, analytics, and AI-enablement initiatives, establishing a scalable, governed, and future-ready data foundation for the enterprise.
The Cloud & Data Architect will lead the modernization and simplification of TBC's data ecosystem by consolidating disparate platforms, establishing enterprise data standards, defining target-state architectures, and guiding migration from legacy technologies to a unified cloud-based data platform. The role partners closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, Infrastructure, and application teams to ensure enterprise data is trusted, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
This position serves as the enterprise authority for data architecture, data platform strategy, data modernization, and AI readiness while promoting simplification, standardization, operational excellence, and technology reuse across the organization.
Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture
- Own and evolve TBC's enterprise data architecture strategy and target-state data roadmap.
- Define and implement the Unified Data Platform (UDP) architecture that establishes governed, reusable, and real-time data assets supporting enterprise analytics, operational intelligence, enterprise services, APIs, and digital commerce experiences.
- Establish enterprise data standards, canonical data models, reference architectures, and architecture principles.
- Develop long-term strategies to simplify and modernize TBC's data landscape.
- Data Platform Modernization
- Lead consolidation of disparate data platforms, warehouses, marts, and reporting repositories into a simplified enterprise data platform.
- Drive migration strategies from legacy technologies including Teradata, SQL Server, and other existing platforms to target-state cloud-based architectures.
- Design modern data lake, lakehouse, warehouse, and real-time data processing architectures where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate redundant data pipelines, platforms, integrations, and tools.
Data Governance & Quality
- Partner with Data Governance teams to establish enterprise data ownership, stewardship, quality standards, and business definitions.
- Define enterprise data domains, metadata standards, lifecycle management, and master data strategies.
- Support development of trusted and governed enterprise data assets.
- Ensure data solutions meet security, compliance, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
Cloud & Platform Architecture
- Define scalable cloud-native data platform architectures.
- Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to establish resilient, secure, observable, and cost-effective cloud data services.
- Design high-availability, disaster recovery, backup, and operational support strategies for enterprise data platforms.
- Evaluate and optimize platform utilization, performance, scalability, and operational cost.
Integration & Data Consumption
- Define patterns for application, API, event-driven, and service-based data consumption.
- Collaborate with application and solution architects to ensure enterprise data can be consumed consistently across business applications and digital channels.
- Establish reusable integration and data access standards supporting enterprise interoperability.
Continued Responsibilities
AI & Analytics Enablement
- Develop the enterprise data foundation required to support AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, and future intelligent automation initiatives.
- Define enterprise approaches to data discoverability, lineage, quality, and governance necessary for AI readiness.
- Partner with business teams to identify opportunities for data-driven decision making and operational optimization.
- Establish trusted datasets and data products that enable scalable AI and analytics capabilities.
Architecture Leadership
- Lead enterprise data architecture reviews, assessments, and modernization initiatives.
- Influence technology selection, vendor evaluations, and strategic investment decisions.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture leadership to align data strategy with overall technology strategy.
- Mentor architects, engineers, analysts, and delivery teams on enterprise data architecture best practices.
- Document architecture decisions, standards, patterns, and target-state roadmaps.
- Provide executive-level recommendations and business cases supporting enterprise transformation initiatives.

Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years in Data Architecture, Platform Architecture, Cloud Architecture, or related roles.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms.
- Experience leading cloud data modernization and migration initiatives.
- Experience consolidating multiple data platforms into a unified architecture.
- Strong understanding of data governance, master data management, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience supporting enterprise analytics and reporting platforms.
- Experience partnering with executive leadership and business stakeholders.
