Under general direction the People Operations Benefits Manager manages the administration of the US and Canadian medical, life, disability, flexible spending, COBRA, retirement plans and other company-sponsored benefit plans.  Ensures that the company maintains a competitive benefits posture in the marketplace, and works to provide a consistently high level of service to Associates through internal or external resources.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Implements, maintains, and continuously improves quality and service processes for management of Associate benefit programs.  Serves as liaison with external vendors, HR teams in benefit-related activities, and finance/accounting as related to distribution of costs, and HRIS/payroll as related to benefit deductions, system configuration and reporting. 
  • Manages the Benefits department team members. Performs all duties related to management including, but not limited to selection, performance management, attendance management, training and development, succession planning, and budget input.
  • Conducts corporate benefit onboarding meetings.
  • With the Benefits executive, evaluates benefit plan design and utilization and manages Department efforts to implement changes as required.
  • Supports the Deferred Compensation Plan administration.
  • Completes review of Associate appeals of benefit eligibility and participation.
  • Gathers, maintains and submits data for ERISA, IRS and DOL compliance, testing and audit activities to ensure that all plans are in full compliance at all times within prescribed timeframes and schedules.   Works with auditors to maintain proper audit trails for auditing & quality assurance purposes.
  • Participates in continuing education as necessary in order to maintain knowledge of benefit laws and regulations.


  • Minimum six years experience in Corporate Benefit Administration
  • Minimum four years experience managing a team
  • Benefits or Human Resources Certification is preferred
  • Quantitative, critical thinking, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate effective group presentation and negotiation skills
  • MS Office Suite Skills
  • HRIS experience, including report writing is required.  SAP Experience a plus
  • Ability to consistently provide a positive customer service experience via telephone or in person for Executives and other Associates with benefit questions or issues
