The Manager, Logistics & Supply Chain Finance will provide oversight, strategic direction, development, implementation and communication of the financial analysis, statistical studies and budgeting process for a very cost-effective, service-centric, high-performance domestic and global supply chain and logistics network and organization. Familiarity with more complicated accounting and financial concepts, practices and controls. This position plays a key role in providing leadership with appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance of the company’s Distribution, Transportation, Supply Chain Planning (Inventory) and Optimization & Performance processes and procedures.

  • Communicate Logistics & Supply Chain financial and operational trends; historical and forecasted, using appropriate metrics.
  • Propose trends, resulting implications, key actions and strategic implications to ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Coordinate capital spending review process for the Logistics & Supply Chain operations.
  • Work closely with the Logistics & Supply Chain leadership team to ensure the execution of the annual budgets as well quarterly forecasts and identify any challenges or opportunities that may arise.
  • This candidate would have the potential to grow into a Director and Senior Director role in the future.

Job Responsibilites

  • Responsible for reviewing distribution & transportation expenses as well as owns and manages DC budgeting and forecasting requiring coordination with the general managers of each Distribution Center, Transportation management team and executive leadership.

  • Familiarity with more complicated accounting and financial concepts, practices and controls 

  • Research variance analysis relative to each subsidiary / business unit affected by Distribution and Transportation. 

  • Create and track labor profile reports by DC. 

  • Responsible for preparing, tracking and booking DC management bonus accruals based on KPI’s established by executive leadership. 

  • Responsible for transportation reporting and bridging the gap between operational activities and financial reporting.  Understand creation of private fleet and transportation budgets by coordinating with operations teams. 

  • Track and monitor inventory levels are within plan to meet or exceed strategic objectives and understand the action items required. 

  • Coordinate with Finance and Supply Chain Planning (Inventory) teams to bridge the gap between operational and financial reporting, e.g., inventory turns / days on hand calculated using units vs dollars. 

  • Understand and communicate key operational drivers required for a favorable inventory position to meet or exceed corporate strategic plan. 

  • Responsible for reviewing the 7 Logistics & Supply Chain corporate services cost centers relative to monthly, quarterly and annual planning and forecasting. 

  • Responsible for allocations to subsidiaries which requires working with department heads to determine percentage of time for the budgeting process as well as monthly reporting. 

  • Coordinate with department heads to determine incentive compensation criteria including tracking and reporting of department metrics for both Distribution and Transportation relative to eligible corporate associates in conjunction with the finance department to ensure accurate monthly accruals. 

  • Establish and maintain standard estimates to assist with budgeting. 

  • Implement continuous improvement projects, including but not limited to, reconfiguring P&L to delineate distribution and transportation expenses to align with operational ownership; automating of P&L dissemination; implementing a new process to report on inbound and outbound units via TM1; or alternative approach to merge seamlessly with financial reporting and working with Supply Chain Planning (Inventory) team to develop KPI’s to drive accountability through transparency. 

  • Lead the development, preparation and presentation of Logistics & Supply Chain reporting and analyses with wholesale, retail and franchise division heads including performance versus last year and versus budget; monitoring key performance indicators for the DC’s, Transportation and Supply Chain Planning (Inventory). 

  • Use financial analysis and business acumen to provide decision support and/or make tactical and strategic recommendations. 


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, statistics or related field

  • 6-9 years related work experience

  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).  Other query tools including Cognos and/or Qlikview)

  • Process improvement skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Process improvement skills. Exceptional negotiating skills.

  • Proficient experience with financial systems i.e. SAP

  • ERP knowledge and experience in SAP or other related systems (JDE, ASW, Epicor, MaddenCo)

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Supply Chain or MBA

  • Experience in an S&OP environment

  • Microsoft office: excel/access

  • Quantitative products: Mathematical and strong statistical knowledge

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
