The Instructional Designer III designs, develops, and evaluates complex, specialized training materials, assessments, and programs in a variety of curriculum and interactive formats, employing a systematic methodology and instructional technology. Provides training/coaching/mentoring to the Instructional Design team on processes, tools, and provides guidance in the performance of Instructional Design tasks. Stays current on industry best practices and applies those to the workplace. Consistently models behavior reflective of team play and corporate values.
Job Responsibilities
- Propose, design, and develop instructor-led courses, e-learning courses, job aids, video tutorials, and other training materials to help associates acquire the necessary skills to effectively do their jobs
- Ensure learning solutions incorporate best practices in adult learning theory
- Lead project discovery meetings and conduct interviews with stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and project teams
- Work with manager to drive standardization and instructional design process improvements.
- Incorporate best practices and real-world scenarios into instructional materials to effectively address performance issues
- Work with SMEs to design, develop, and deploy instructor-led and e-learning content based on business needs
- Contribute to storyboarding, authoring, and development of e-learning content and blended learning solutions
- Create interactive or animated graphics and videos using a variety of tools including Vyond, Adobe, Creative Cloud and Camtasia
- Edit, review, and evaluate content, and provide quality assurance testing for all materials
- Build and maintain a team effort consistent with the goals of the company
- Provide a moderate level of leadership, training, instruction, processes, tools, and guidance in the performance of instructional design tasks using various resources
- Maintain a state-of-the-art knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and emergent technologies in the instructional design industry.
- Innovate by researching new and relevant trends in the learning industry and frequently presents ideas for potential implementation. (Attends industry conferences, reads publications, meets with organized groups, follows blogs and social media feeds of industry leaders and groups, and implement where necessary and possible).
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 5-10 years of experience designing instruction and applying principles of adult learning theories and methodologies to assessment, development, delivery, and evaluation
- Expert in adult learning principles, facilitation, learner-centered activities, and Kirkpatrick’s Model of evaluation
- Strong background in creating assessments to measure transfer of learning
- Strong understanding and application of the instructional design process and methods (ADDIE, Successive Approximation Model (SAM), Systems Approach Model, Instructional Design Plan)
- Proven experience leading design projects that produce creative and innovative instructor-led, E-learning, and blended learning solutions
- Expert in web-based course development using E-learning course authoring tools (Articulate 360 authoring apps and Adobe Captivate)
- Expert in the use of video and audio editing software (Vyodn, Camtasia, SnagIt, Audacity)
- Proven experience with graphic design packages (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, and other modern design tools)
- Excellent project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks accordingly and be deadline oriented to produce on all deliverables
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and providing work direction to peers
- Ability to learn new software applications and concepts as needed
- Occasional travel with the ability to work a flexible schedule
- Ability to work independently with minimal management supervision
