The Data Engineer will report to a manager of Strategic Analytics and conduct business analysis / data science using various techniques. 

This high-profile position touches all aspects of TBC's business, encompassing data analysis work for Retail, eCommerce, Wholesale, Franchise, and shared services teams.  With an eye to business value and impact, you will interact with leaders across the organization providing key insights to help them optimize their business.

You will work directly with the internal or external clients to identify analytical requirements and work under a manager to determine the most appropriate analysis to facilitate business decision-making.

Job Responsibilites

  • Work independently on complex data preparation and business analytics tasks

  • Work collaboratively with a team, where work tasks in a project will be split between team members

  • Use results of analysis to make recommendations for the business

  • Interpret data, analyze results using calculations, complex logic, statistical analysis and other quantities techniques.

  • Acquire data from multiple data sources and maintain data for use in future analysis

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.

  • Identify data anomalies and determine the most appropriate resolution

  • Working, under the instruction of the director, to create statistical and machine learning models that depict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole.

  • Work within multidisciplinary, cross-department teams on large-scale projects. 

  • Assist management in prioritizing business and information needs.

  • Assist management in identifying and recommending new ways to analyze data

  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

      

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of experience with SQL, Alteryx (a big plus) or other similar tools to assemble and prepare data from relational or multiple disparate sources preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience with reporting packages (Tableau, Cognos, Qlik, etc)

  • Development experience for automation of processes using programming languages and scheduling tools (Python/perl)

  • 1 year of knowledge and/or experience with statistical tools preferred

  • Demonstrated history of success, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with detail and accuracy.

  • Working knowledge of database and software tools to support data analysis and reporting. 

  • Working knowledge of data querying and analytics tools, processes and methodology.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills with the ability to effectively and clearly communicate and present ideas to senior leadership

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

  • Ability to balance multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities

  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-Starter.

  • High School Diploma Required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, MIS, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or other related field.

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science or other Quantitative area
